Her smile. She has one that’s not her usual one (although yes, that is beautiful and yes, I can draw it from memory- if I was one who engaged in that sort of behavior) that is a half-smile when she’s looks just as likely to cry as she is to laugh; when she probably wants to do both. It’s like she’s realizing or remembering something and no matter what’s going on in the world, no matter where she’s at, or what shape she’s in…she realizes there’s something worth smiling at, (worth her smiling at) and so she does. I first saw it when we were watching a Charlie Chaplin movie, and she just kind of turned her head just right. I don’t know if she saw me watching her…but she just smiled.
It doesn’t come out often and it’s really been a handful of times I’ve ever seen it. But there are others who practically live in the light of that smile. Lucius, for one, he can make her smile by walking into a room. Ted has that ability too. I don’t blame them. They lived their lives together, the three of them, where Lucius left off, Ted picked up and I wouldn’t dream of holding that against them. There’s a silent comfort in knowing there are worlds behind Andromeda’s eyes that I don’t know about, there’s a silent thrill in knowing I can discover them.
But that smile and seeing it given to someone else still gets me every time.
